Running to 23 August, the festival pairs funfair rides and food stalls with the free Theatron MusikSommer at the Olympiasee.
How we reported this

Munich's Olympiapark will bring holiday spirit back to the city from 31 July to 23 August 2026 with its annual Sommerfestival. Open daily from 11:00, the festival combines funfair rides, a children's area (Kinderland), a street of stalls (Budenstraße), food stands and the Bar du Soleil beside the Olympiasee.
Organised by Olympiapark München GmbH, the festival lines up a series of themed weekends and recurring highlights. These include a Dackelday and farmers' market, a 'Treasure Hunt' influencer flea market, fireworks, and the Theatron MusikSommer concert series, giving visitors reasons to return across the three-and-a-half week run.
Families are a particular focus, with fairground rides, the Kinderland play area and dedicated children's days offering reduced prices. The layout around the Olympiasee lets visitors combine an afternoon of rides and food with an evening at the lakeside stage.
Running in parallel, the Theatron MusikSommer takes place from 31 July to 22 August 2026 on the lakeside stage (Seebühne). Bands, musicians and newcomers perform daily from 19:00, with earlier 11:00 starts on 1 and 9 August, and admission to all Theatron concerts is free.
The music programme spans a wide range of styles, from local Munich acts to international performers, and on 17 and 18 August the short-film programme 'flimmern&rauschen' complements the MusikSommer from 22:00. Those attending can round off an evening on the steps of the Theatron overlooking the water.
Together, the Sommerfestival and the free Theatron series extend Munich's open-air summer well into August, following the earlier Tollwood festival in the same park. With free lakeside concerts every evening, the Olympiapark remains one of the city's most popular warm-weather destinations.
The Theatron line-up leans on emerging and international talent, with the opening night on 31 July billed as 'WOR(L)D CONNECTS' featuring Munich-based acts, followed by performers drawn from a range of countries and styles across the three weeks. Organisers stress that concerts generally go ahead even in poor weather, and that entry to every event is free.
For families, the Sommerfestival's rides, Kinderland and reduced-price children's days make it one of the more affordable large-scale attractions of the Munich summer, while the themed weekends and fireworks give repeat visitors something new to see. Daily opening from 11:00 leaves plenty of time to combine an afternoon at the funfair with an evening concert by the lake.
